What is Infant Massage?
Infant massage classes are conducted as private sessions or in small groups of no more than 4 infants and their parent/guardian.
When the child becomes familiar with the techniques on certain areas of the body, such as the soles of the feet, anticipation can be seen. The parent can see cognitive development in progress.
This is rewarding for the parent, they can see that their involvement with infant massage is stimulating their child’s learning and increasing synaptic connections.
How does Infant Massage work?
Skin stimulation speeds the process of myelination (the conductive fatty sheath of a nerve fibre) of the brain and nervous system, thus improving brain-body communication and enhancing neural cell firing.
What are the benefits of Infant Massage?
The therapeutic benefits of massage for babies include deeper sleep, development and regulation of the gastrointestinal tract and improved circulation and lymph flow.
