What is ear candling?

Thermal Auricular therapy is also known as Ear Candling. Ear Candles have a purely physical function. There are 3 phases to the technique.

1. Creeping Phase: Low pressure in the ear, the smoke of the medicinal herbs penetrates the external auditory canal.

2. Heat Phase. A gentle and relaxing change in pressure, a mild warmth. The stabilization of the circulatory system. Activates the defence mechanism in the lymphatic system.

3. Chimney Phase: Stimulation of the flow of secretion (loosening wax), clearing of clogged pores. The chimney effect and heat clear waste products and deposits are removed. It helps to balance the hemispheres.

The benefits have been well known through more than 20 years of experience and confirmed by thousands of doctors worldwide.  The ear candles our therapists use are accepted by the TGA and the ECPAA for use in Clinical practice. They are certified as a Class 11b medical device. ARTG Registered, number 142411.

Ear Infections

Ear infections usually start with a viral infection, such as a head cold. The middle ear becomes inflamed from the infection, and fluid builds up behind the ear drum. Ear infections also can be associated with dysfunction or swelling within the Eustachian tubes-the narrow passageways that connect the middle ear to the nose. Normally these tubes equalise pressure inside and outside the ear.

A child’s Eustachian tubes are narrower and shorter than those of an adult. This makes it easier for fluid to get trapped in the middle ear when the Eustachian tubes dysfunction or become blocked during a cold.

What are the benefits of Ear Candling?

The physical effect is often described after the treatment as a soothing, pressure and pain relieving sensation, mainly in the ear and head area. Treatment may also spontaneously cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, even when the nose was blocked before the treatment.

Our therapists will perform a manual lymphatic and Indian head massage during the second half of the treatment. They will combine this with acupressure points applicable to your ailment. These techniques enhance the action of thermal auricular therapy and encourage a sense of relaxation.

PLEASE NOTE: Candling cannot be performed if you have any of the following.

*You have had a perforated ear drum in the last 2 years.
*Have an allergy to bee products, sage, chamomile, lemongrass, eucalyptus or St Johns Wort.
*You have grommets
